About Us

Carntyne has an outstanding situation in the centre of the attractive old market town of Hexham, overlooking the park and historic 7th century Abbey and grounds. The house has mature walled gardens of over an acre with two summer houses. It is within very easy walking distance of churches, shops, banks and the town Library and Arts centre.

Our aim is to offer you the care you need in a happy and natural atmosphere where your individuality is respected. We feel that it is important that you retain a sense of freedom and control of your life as long as you can. We aim to create as homelike an environment as possible, where appropriate care is given in a way which preserves personal freedom and self determination.

There are nineteen well furnished single rooms, all en-suite, each with a call system, TV, Wi-Fi and BT connection points. If you wish, you are able to install your own phone. There is a lift. There is a large sitting room on the ground floor. On the first floor there is a sun lounge which overlooks the garden, with ramp access to the garden. There is a chapel on the ground floor It is always open for private prayer. An Anglican minister from the Abbey celebrates a Holy Communion Service in the chapel once a month and a Methodist service is also held monthly. Full freedom of worship is encouraged
